I am a vegetarian and can I eat eggs and my dairy products being a vegetarian?

Hai Biggart: Yes, a lacto-ovo-vegetarian (which is what most of us just know as a vegetarian) can eat eggs and dairy! However, NO vegetarian eats fish.

Bibi Tyron: You, as a vegetarian, can eat anything that has not come from a dead animal. Fish are animals, so you can't eat them. Eggs, yes. Dairy, yes but not cheese that contains rennet or yoghurt that contains gelatine.

Adrian Paraz: Vegetarianism excludes eating all living creatures, that includes fish. Eggs that have never been fertilized are technically abiotic. If you only eat fish, you are pescetarian. Vegans exclude dairy products and eggs, but lacto-ovo vegetarians do not. It is your choice to decide what you want to eat or not.

Debora Rinderer: fish is good

Abel Adger: I agree with the guy who said not to worry about labels. But a strict vegetarian doesn't eat any animal products. to gain the most benefits to your health you shouldn't eat any animal products. Milk and eggs are just as ! bad (or worse) than meat. Also if you are concerned about the environment, again milk and eggs are just as bad as meat. And 3/4 of all fisheries are over-fished. there are also health concerns with eating fish but they are not as great as the ones with meat and dairy. On the ethical side of things, milk and eggs are just as bad (or worse) than meat. and I'm not sure what kind of scale you have to use to judge a fishes life to be worth less than anything else's life. And I don't know why everyone is still so worried about protein. Have you ever heard of anyone with a protein deficiency disease? As far as protein goes - i like to cite these two examples. Elephants only eat plants. Elephants do pretty good with a plant based diet - because plants contain protein. And if we are supposed to get 20 or 30 % of our calories from protein, how come mother's milk is only 4% protein?Oh, and you don't get B12 from animal products. Only bacteria make B12. There is plenty of b12 floating! around - and if you're worried about it - take a daily vitami! n. Check out PETA's site and get the free Go Vegan Starter Kit....Show more

Boyce Gilhooly: Yes, you can. But, not fish. I am a vegetarian, and eat cheese, drink milk and eat some eggs. The eggs I eat, have to be from vegetarian fed, cage-free chickens. I do not use a lot of eggs, but when I do that is the type I choose. A vegetarian does not eat any animal (land or sea) that is killed. Also, they do not eat jell-o, take gel capped medication, eat marshmallow type cereal and other foods that contain gelatin. You have to really become a label reader. . Gelatin which is a common food additive comes from animals. Technically, pescatarians are not vegetarians. They are similar, but are not vegetarians. A lot of people get that confused....Show more

Randal Deyarmond: If you are a pescetarian you can eat all 3, if you are a lacto-ovo vegetarian you can eat milk and eggs.

Jesse Japak: i'm vegetarian and i eat fish; i need the protein. i don't eat anything with a! real conscience, like cows or elk. i eat dairy things, but not straight milk. it's all up to preference really, i don't eat animals because they're smart and the way the factories raise and process them is horrible and bad for you

Anibal Scheid: Yes, but if you become a vegan you can't eat anything that is made from animals and if your are a vegetarian you can't eat meat!!! :Dyour welcome

Lolita Deschamp: Vegetarians don't eat anything that requires an animal to die (so, no fish.) Anything else is permissible. You can have eggs, some cheeses, and other dairy products.Pescetarians follow a vegetarian diet, except they also eat fish.Vegans abstain from all animal products -- no meat, fish, dairy, or lard....Show more

Lady Laflin: Yes,

Lolita Deschamp: stop worrying about a title, if you are choosing to cut our certain things from your diet for ethical or health reasons that is great! but do not be concerned with a title, making the decision if eggs ! or dairy is acceptable to what you believe and want to accomplish with ! your vegetarianism than great if not dont worry about it do what you want its your beliefs and health

Nikita Schroepfer: Most vegetarians continue to consume both eggs and dairy products. No vegetarians eats fish.

Lorelei Lilburn: if you want to eat fish then label yourself a pescatarian.that way when you are around people you will have an official title to justify your reasons for not eating meat and poultry.if you want to call yourself a vegetarian than you have to avoid the seafood.
