Jed Mutone: Plain yogurt is an individual thing. I'm sure yoplait makes plain, but usually people eat flavored. Even if it's vanilla, it's not plain. It will say if it is on the container.
Caroyln Ebach: We don't need meat per say but we've evolved to take use of it as a food source. Meat, compared to plant matter, is much higher in calories and nutrients and as such is a higher quality food source. This was especially important to our ancestors. The thing is though, humans can only get away with not eating meat if they take supplements to offset the lack of protein and other nutrients that we normally get through eating meat. This makes vegetarianism in humans unnatural. Besides, meat's delicious....Show more
Roselee Mczeal: well sometimes food poisoning cause people dont cook them properly, the fats in them,
Tillie Wynott: If it has gelatin than it's not vegetarian
Jules Ashbach: We don't have to eat meat. So, why should I kill innocent animals? O! nly because they are good tasting?Oh, that isn't a good reason, I think.
Eleni Mccier: You can also add not only is it wrong to take a life, it is wrong to cause suffering. Billions of animals are killed in factory farms under insanely harsh conditions. Any meat you buy in the supermarket was killed in that manner. So if you emphasize suffering, the argument becomes stronger. It is debatable as to whether plants can feel suffering because they do not have developed central nervous systems....Show more
Rosie Travino: My dad works for general mills and they are the ones who make the yopliat yogurt. I'm pretty sure that there isnt anything in yogurt that is bad. But yogurt is a living thing (because its full of living organisms) so they like regenerate your skin. So what I'm trying to say is that you could use any brand of yogurt (as long as it is vanilla) and it will work just as good. And there is nothing bad in yogurt.
Randa Hessell: they will likely bring ! in some sort of health argument based on the fact that the foo! d pyramid contains meat and the fact that animals themselves eat meat. I personally wouldn't go with the "wrongness" argument, because it won't convince anyone who isn't an animal lover like you. I would go with health facts. Anytime you heat meat or other animal products, you are creating carcinogens. Animals can safety eat meat because they eat it raw. But because humans cook or at least pasteurize all of their animal products, everytime we eat meat, we are ingesting a good deal of carcinogens. All cooked foods contain carcinogens, but animal products contain a good deal more than plants. Human bodies also run much more efficiently at a more alkaline pH. Animal products are across the board acidic, and become extremely acidic when they are cooked, whereas plant products are either alkaline, neutral or mildly acidic even after being cooked. The exception is processed products like sodas or cookies, but meat is acidic even if it's unprocessed. There are quite a few studies ! on the effect that dairy has on your body. It is a big cause of acne, asthma, and (surprise!) osteoporosis! It in no way protects your body from the diseases that it's supposed to protect you from. Most of the people in the world are actually lactose intolerant, well over 50% (Most Africans and Asians are lactose intolerant), yet milk is considered necessary in the US. But then you look at the rates of osteoporosis and the western world has extremely high rates, whereas people who live in places like Africa and never drink milk have very low rates. An except about osteoporosis:Harvard University's landmark Nurses Health Study, which followed 78,000 women over a 12-year period, found that the women who consumed the most calcium from dairy foods broke more bones than those who rarely drank milk. Summarizing this study, the Lunar Osteoporosis Update (November 1997) explained: "This increased risk of hip fracture was associated with dairy calcium. ... If this were any agent oth! er than milk, which has been so aggressively marketed by dairy interest! s, it undoubtedly would be considered a major risk factor."http://www.milksucks.com/osteo.asp...Show more

Bethany Blocker: "even rocks are alive they grow"simply the greatest argument against going vegetarian that I've ever heard....hahahah.
Marya Fehn: I'm going to guess that you are on the pro side? The best way to win a debate is to anticipate what the opposition is going to say and prepare counter arguments against that. In a ! debate, I would also stick to facts, not sentiment. Don't debate what you think, but rather the numerous facts there are for your topic. Don't talk about why it is wrong to take life, b/c you cannot back that up with researched facts, and arguments. Study what the opposition is likely to say. Make sure you can shoot down any of their arguments with solid facts, or at least be knowledgeable about it. Most people that eat meat use the same arguments, such as*We have canine teeth*Vegetarians need supplements to be healthy*You need meat for protein*plants have feelings too*You need milk for strong bones*cows enjoy being milked*If we didn't eat animals, they would overpopulate*it's the circle of life*Animals die when crops are harvested.*vegetarians don't care about people*vegetarianism is too expensive*If everyone went vegetarian there would not be enough food.**%%All these arguments can be easily shot down with facts, so know the right answer to sound convincing%%**I would esp! ecially suggest being able to counter argue why vegetarianism is health! y, and complete in nutrition. You're very likely to run into the false argument that vegetarianism is incomplete in nutrition, or that meat is needed for health. Expect to be able to debate about protein and how vegetarians get more than enough from whole grains, beans, nuts, etc. Use reputable sources, such as The American Dietetic Association(make sure you let people know who they are), which has stated that a veg*n diet is healthy for all stages of life(1). Also, make sure that any claim can be backed with a reputable source. Don't say "studies have shown..." unless you can name these studies, and who was behind them(I can also not stress enough the importance of using a real source, something like PETA would not be a reputable source). Be aware that you can also break apart the oppositions arguments if they cannot produce "studies" that they claim exist. Your argument will sound more solid if you can produce a reputable source of information and they do not.If you reall! y want to know what you opposition will say, have a practice debate with a friend. Make sure this friend has the opposite view from yours, and take note the arguments s/he uses. Do this separately with 2-3 friends, and you will begin to see repeat arguments, and know to focus your research there first. This is a hard debate to win. Your going to be going up against false information(that the majority of classmates listening to do not know is false). There is a slant to the opposition, b/c unless only the teacher is judging(and he/she knows about vegetarian nutrition), and can put aside personal beliefs and only judge on fact, no meat eater wants to hear their diet is wrong. There are also more believable falsehoods about eating meat. Most people are taught from a young age that milk builds strong bones, so hearing that it does not takes a lot more arguing. All someone on the opposition needs to say is meat is healthy and everyone believes that without hearing anymore, howeve! r, your side could not simply say vegetarianism is healthy, without hav! ing to prove it(b/c your audience does not believe you right out of the gate). Start off with facts. Talk about how the diet is healthy, and complete in nutrition. If your opposition talks about it being unhealthy, you can go with the American Dietetic Associations positional paper. A properly planned vegetarian diet is healthy, just as healthy as a diet containing meat. An improperly planned vegetarian diet is no more unhealthy that am improperly planned omnivore diet. If you are in America, you can certainly touch on how unhealthy the population is(a population that is comprised mostly of people that eat meat)Good luck....Show more

It is your choice.I do disagree with your arguments about taking life. you take life all the time, every time you wash away insect life or any other microscopic life. Fermin Tara: Pescatarian (also spelled pescetarian)The word âpescatarianâ is occasionally used to describe those who abstain from eating all ! meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish. Although the word is not commonly used, more and more people are adopting this kind of diet, usually for health reasons or as a stepping stone to a fully vegetarian diet. Flexitarian/Semi-vegetarianYou donât have to be vegetarian to love vegetarian food! âFlexitarianâ is a term recently coined to describe those who eat a mostly vegetarian diet, but occasionally eat meat. Lacto-ovo- vegetarianWhen most people think of vegetarians, they think of lacto-ovo-vegetarians. People who do not eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish or animal flesh of any kind, but do eat eggs and dairy products are lacto-ovo vegetarians (âlactoâ comes from the Latin for milk, and âovoâ for egg). Lacto-vegetarian is used to describe a vegetarian who does not eat eggs, but does eat dairy products. Ovo-vegetarian refers to people who do not eat meat or dairy products but do eat eggs. VeganVegans do not eat meat of any kind and also do not! eat eggs, dairy products, or processed foods containing these or other! animal-derived ingredients such as gelatin. Many vegans also refrain from eating foods that are made using animal products that may not contain animal products in the finished process, such as sugar and some wines. There is some debate as to whether certain foods, such as honey, fit into a vegan diet.5. Raw vegan/Raw food dietA raw vegan diet consists of unprocessed vegan foods that have not been heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit (46 degrees Celsius). âRaw foodistsâ believe that foods cooked above this temperature have lost a significant amount of their nutritional value and are harmful to the body. MacrobioticThe macrobiotic diet, revered by some for its healthy and healing qualities, includes unprocessed vegan foods, such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and allows the occasional consumption of fish.
