What major would you take for Computer Networking?

Ninfa Asby: anythin in IT...it all depends

Maritza Ebanks: Hi, I went to public a college. Their degree program had two different tracks you could take in computing. One track was the programming track and the other was the networking track. The networking classes included eight semesters of CISCO. You can then test for a variety of certifications from CISCO. The CCNP is the CISCO Certified Networking Professional certificate. You can keep going and get the CCIE, which is network engineering. I still had to take a variety of programming classes though. I had to take C++, Visual Basic, Novell, Linux, HTML, and Advanced VB. Some require you to take Java. There are options. Check in to other schools to find one that offers what you are truly looking for. Best of luck and congratulations on your decision to pursue a degree!!...Show more

Micah Schwarcz: The easiest way is after high school get into Associate program for Computer Network Engieering and after complet! ing that, get into BIS. Don't forget to get certifications of Microsoft and Cisco, these certifications help a lot in getting a secure job. Good luck!

Jestine Osumi: A lot of practice and very wide general and detailed networks knowledge.Usually the best jobs are reserved for those who now the most. Collect knowledge. Take certificates if you want. And the most important - work a lot with a range of networks you have access to.I heard very interesting statement from my friend who owns an ISP company: "Things you have learnt at school are not important for me as much as your practical knowledge, because it's just different world."...Show more
