Jannie Ariola: a flame "Thrower" and a common lighter operate on the same principal. You need 2 things to create a flame, fuel and spark.A lighter operates effectivly because the fuel is under pressure and when you thumb the whel and hit the "ignitor' you have flame. In the case of a flamethrower the only difference is there is a forced air system in place which propells the flame. In a sysystem like this there is a flow valve that prevents ignited gasses from going back to the fuel source. The You Tube stuff you saw is dangerous to say the least....Show more
Violette Vanek: There are several things you should know. Liquid gasoline will not burn. Only after it is vaporized will it burn. The fuel in a flamethrower is under pressure so there is not way for the flame to get back into the storage tank. Because there is no oxygen in the fuel tank that makes it even harder for any gasoline vapors to ignite. The concern with a super soaker is that the fuel could coat the outsi! de of the gun, catch fire and melt the tank just enough for the fuel to run out can get on a person holding it. If it then caught on fire the person could be seriously harmed....Show more
