Debora Rinderer: There are plenty of workers to clean the churches but to clean your heart only Jesus Christ can .
Georgina Natal: I'm an Atheist who used to be a Christian, so I remember all of the things we were told to believe in Sunday school, all the excuses to stuff found in the Bible, all of the things that didn't make sense. As an Atheist now, seeing what I used to believe is true seems like a sick joke. All the lies, all the excuses, even the core beliefs of heaven and hell, that God loves you and yet is omnipotent--all of it looks like brainwashing to me now. And it is. The sort of things they teach our young children to believe in without proof, all in the face of a single ideal which many are willing to DIE for; This stuff makes Christianity seem like a cult from Atheist perspectives. Christianity, like almost all religions, is a CULT. By definition and by experience....Show more
Nestor Klan: Churches has janitors like every place else. I suspect y! ou are not paying a lot of attention to churches if you have never seen them being cleaned.
Lino Cawthorne: @Saul: Again, Im not here to judge, and you do not know why I posted this even though I said it twice in the topic. It's very simple, do atheists or non believers look at me as I would look at the heavens gate for example. Or do they look at us differently. Most people who answered understand what im asking. If you view me as someone who is brainwashed or in a cult, then so be it....Show more
Gaynell Pizzaro: yes, they are kinda like self cleaning ovens at night.
Marvel Mcaulay: Me, not usually.Indeed, "cult" these days implies something a bit small, weird and far from the meainstream. It depends on context, though; I'd happily describe ancient Christianity as a cult before it became the Imperial Roman religion, contemporary with e.g. the cults of Mithras, Vesta, etc.So it's just one of these words whose meaning depends on circumstance....Show more
Dedra Furguson: no..they have to have a cleaning crew.
!Theresia Fashaw: Orthodox Jewish girls do it all the time, as long as your also wearing a dress/skirt. A lot of girls also wear tights. For religious ceremony, it wouldn't be appropriate. At home/lounging is fine.
Jules Ashbach: Yeah I have to agree with your view on cults. I look at it this way...if they think Christianity is a cult, then they don't know and/or understand what being a Christian is all about.
Floyd Labuda: It's a cult, by definition. If you think of something else when you hear "cult" it's not our problem. For clarification, you can still ask when someone is calling your religion a cult, before assuming it's an insult.
Robin Tommie: You asked a question, assumed that the answer was yes and proceeded from there when in reality the answer is no. Atheists don't view most Christian denominations as cults.
Cyndy Grimes: . It would depend on your religion. It is best to remain modest at all times. There is a rare cult in Central Illino! is which forces the men to dress as women and bring them coffee.I won't disclose where this is located but suffice it to say that it is not growing really fast.
Ron Keliipio: Xians throw the word around to describe any other Xian sect but their own. Fundies say JWs and Mormons are a cult and they disparage the Catholics as a cult. All religions by definition are cults. Fundies use the word to belittle anyone who doesn't follow their brand of Xianity.
Oren Eskelsen: I don't see Christianity that way, although some of the more weird and fundamental denominations do make the word "cult" come to mind
Alma Twomey: @O8- But if you read what I wrote, you would see that I said BEFORE I became a Christian I never thought of them as a cult.
Pamela Meno: That would be ok to do.
Nadia Crauswell: Keep in mind that I am only giving you my opinion because I don't think anyone can give you the answer. This is something that you must find within yourself. I th! ink that all most religions have very good teachings that people should! know about but I wouldn't hang off any particular religion as the definite truth. If we look at what religion means you'll see that it is simply put, the way a particular race interpenetrates god or the divine source if you will. Most religions outline the same idea's, but because of the difference's between races in regards to language, ideologies, dialect so on and so forth each person interprets the same thing differently. The difference between religion and spiritually in my opinion is that people try to use religion as a tool to reach they're spiritual side. Most religions have a god(s) that people worship and view as something more powerful than themselves. A separate entity from themselves that they must obey to be accepted to their god(s) kingdom. Spiritually is about knowing that you are the divine creator. You know that you are the master creator and are awakening to this fact more and more everyday. We are all one and we will all see this oneness as time! progresses into and past 2012. It is fact that the earth's vibration has increased in the last 25 years and is on the verge of reaching 13 cycle's per second. Right now you may be experience a sense of wanting to belong. Something inside you wants to connect to something profound. You may feel a sense of urgency. This is all natural and part of the process of you becoming a 4 density being. I believe that we are transmuting from 3rd density to 4th density. Millions of people all over the world are waking up and feeling this change. So in conclusion, don't look outside for the truth, look inside. I hope I could shed some light on your situation. Peace and light to all. ...Show more
Eulah Hugill: Give God a chance, not religion. You as an atheist claim there is no God. That is like saying there is no gold in China. You have to have absolute knowledge which no one has. If anything, you'd be agnostic which is through all the experiences you've had you don't be! lieve there is a God which is different than there is no God.
Lio! nel Tanen: I take it the JW means "just wondering".I see no problem with being atheist and involved with friends who go to church or even going to church. Atheist just means (to me) that you've examined the evidence, arrived at a conclusion and that conclusion is that the god or gods your comrades speak of don't exist. It shows an open mind and I see no reason to back away from that.
Monty Sieloff: "giving it another chance" wouldn't really work. Religion is about not just belief, but also following the rules associated with a particular belief. I am not at all religious, but still a very spiritual person. And part of that is having a sense within that there *is* more, even if the potential exists for that to just be my imagination and the brain's way of allowing me to cope with the idea of the future cessation of my existence.
Rivka Killmer: no dont give religion a chance give Christ a chance. It is possible to be the reilgious person on Earth but be far away! from God. Christ even made a parable about it. He said there are 2 boys and the father went to the first son and said go into the field and work. The boy responded yes father I will go but he never went. Then he went to the second son and said go into the field and work and the second son said no father but after thinking about it he went and worked the field. Then Christ ask who did what their father told them and the auidence said the second one. Then Christ said the prostitutes and the tax collectors will make it into the kindom before you do. Christ saves not religion.
Lavelle Viveiros: um, i dont know what to say to that. Don't give religion a chance, give the idea of right and wrong a chance? because religion pretty much advocates what is right and wrong. And if you do what's right you'll be rewarded, everyone just wants the treat after =P

Sheron Perrez: Angels with dustmops
Jade Ohno: Drop by ours some Sunday afternoon. It also gets a dusting Saturday evening before Sunday services.
Sheree Hipwell: RIP ! George.
Carmina Stickney: in my church everyone has a little job to do and we do it once a week at some point but not all at the same time so you can nearly always see someone doing cleaning before and after services, then we have a big sprin and autumn cleaning party where we bring goodies and have a bit of a party after all the cleaning is done....then we have to hoover and wash up again but never mind!
Vince Delarge: Someone goes there over night to sweep the floors.Over here, in a catholic church, an older lady does that..
Betsey Muehlbach: There is not much difference between a cult and a religion, although personally I think cults must have a living charismatic leader, and only become religions after he dies and they become decentralized.
Abby Herwood: All churches have a self cleaning button.
Bud Espenshade: It sounds like there's a great sort of religion on your city yet no longer a great sort of religion. at the start, i could propose ! that the prepare believers are plenty extra sizeable than the authentic! believers, because of the fact interest is what they are all approximately. go searching for the quiet types who can constantly count on whilst there's a real choose yet whom no one notices. it may additionally be the guy who volunteers to scrub the lavatories (in the journey that your church has this way of individual). so some distance as doubting God is going, even if, it style of feels to me that what you're quite doubting isn't any count if absolutely everyone around you relatively believes. i could propose you're making that your prayer. Ask Jesus to coach you somebody who's essentially following Him. meanwhile, seek the Scriptures your self for what God is announcing to you, extremely of what the church people say that he's announcing to you.
Lou Rought: Our church is cleaned by church members and they don't get paid . My dad has been cleaning the church for 4 yrs.GOD BLESS
Ilana Gaster: im an atheist. where i live it isint very religious so ive never re! ally had anyone try to convince me to give religion another chance. so are there any reasons why i should?p.s. im not really considering changing im jwand please dont freak out on me because i wont really care i just would like to know peoples opiniansid also love to here from fellow atheists too...Show more
Vernon Martorana: I only wear dresses/skirts for religious reasons. This is a question for other dresses-only women. In some situations I find it more modest to wear pants under my skirt, like when climbing a ladder. But would this be okay?
Rolanda Merritt: I just asked my sister since you addressed this for "dresses only women" and she rolled her eyes, said I ask the stupidest question, I have too much time on may hands and should be doing something else (WOMEN!!!) then said "What was the question again??? (Face palm). So I asked again and she said "Oh gosh yes! She said if she were doing something like that she would wear tights but also said "aren't' ladde! rs and that kind of labor YOUR domain" and then floated off down the ha! ll laughing (it was more of a sarcastic hum if you ask me) LOL So that is the best I can do for you. To be honest, I can't imagine my sister or mother on a ladder but at least now I know why they keep us around LOLMO-What are you talking about? I live in Illinois and went to a state University for a while in central Illinois and have NEVER heard of such a thing...Show more
Barrett Felicia: No, but you should consider spirituality. I went through a spell of being an atheist until I realized it was just silly. We are too big of a coincidence and everything works out to well without the help of the universal force (god).
Dick Baumgarten: Now, I know there will be someone who copies and pastes what a cult is from wiki, and I understand that yes, Christianity has rituals, and all of that. BUT, my question is this. When someone says "cult" to me, I think of the Heavens Gate cult, or even Jim Jones and his whole thing. Maybe even the branch dividians *though I do beli! eve they were murdered*. Im wondering if atheists or anyone who really doesn't care about religion. Do you look at us the way I described? Like that kind of cult? I only ask this because I see alot of people on here throwing words like "fundie" and "cult" around which to me lessens the meaning. Even before I became a Christian, I never thought of the religion as a cult in the sense that I mentioned above*.What say you?...Show more
Raven Purl: Stick with being an atheist.Has anything changed to make you now believe there is a god?Sure read your Bible, attend services if you want.See if there is anything there that can draw you back to religion. After all, atheism is not a sect or a cult, it is simply a philosophy that a higher power does not exist. You can leave any time
Marvel Mcaulay: In India churches are routinely cleaned before big festivals like Christmas, more especially on Holy Saturday, before Easter. People take pride in doing such work, as it is counted ! as doing God's work.In another community of India, of Sikhs, as a minor! punishment, even a high ranking individual is asked to sweep or mop the floor of their Gurdwara or worhipping place as a penance, which they carry out with all humility. There is nothing demeaning about it.....in fact it is considered a privilege. One must indeed be blessed to do any such bidding: a Hindu saying goes like this: "Oh (God), I thank Thee for even giving the twist of mind to THINK (leave alone worship) of Thee.....I must have gained Thine blessings over countless life times even to come to this stage......" Worshipping God does have good effects......try it....Show more
Marcelina Schossow: If your mother or father just found out they had cancer and let you know just now, and told you that things did not look so good for them, would you go to bed tonight and pray they would be ok, regardless of your beliefs that there may be no god?If you would, then maybe you believe in god and you are simply denying what your heart is telling you. Because for those who t! ruly do not believe in god, they have no reason to curse him when things go wrong, nor do they have a reason to beg for his help.If you would see praying as pointless in your most dire of situations, and would see absolutely no hope in the chance he may exist and help you, then perhaps you are right in having no religion. Otherwise, something is obviously there, and you're just not listening to it.
Maye Delk: Stick around a church after everyone leaves and eventually someone will come in with mops, dusters, brooms, and vacs. - it is awesome. They even clean the toilets and refill the tp dispensers - if we are lucky. i have not only seen it being done but have been an actual participant. You can do it to. You can be a member of the Anonymouse Overnight Church Cleaners Association. (AOCCA)
Renita Sefton: A church does not need cleaning. It is holy so any potential dirt is zapped into oblivion by the powers of god.
Sunshine Holets: Well by todays stand! ards, and for sake of not tempting men to lust your under garments, I w! ould say it is perfectly ok. It is encouraged. You must have some acceptance to the times, but not so much so that you defile yourself. Your love belongs to your husband, and to God.
Ariel Arons: @Please- You have it wrong. Im not insulted, and that's not even why I asked. I've been wanting to ask this question for awhile but just hung back and read their responses to questions for awhile. No one really asked it the way I just did. I may say to you though, don't presume to know why I asked a question. It's a simple question.
Kalyn Proietto: Yes, Christianity is a cult. You mentioned a few groups that come to your mind when you think of cults, such as the Peopleâs Temple, Heavenâs Gate, and the Branch Davidians. If you are like me when I was a Christian, I looked for differences between what I believed in and what others believed. I was blinded by my bias. It was not until I actually started questioning my beliefs that I started to understand why others bel! ieved what they did. I urge you to sit down and compare not only the differences between you and those groups, but also the similarities. Make yourself an unbiased outsider. In other words, look at the whole picture and try not to judge any group, including your own. Try to figure out why all the various groups believe what they do â" what compels them, why they need their beliefs, what do their beliefs do for them, how do their beliefs affect their daily lives, etc. If you can make yourself an impartial observer of all religious groups, including your own, I feel confident that you will clearly see why all religions are cults....Show more
